Log clutter on the console

If you get log messages popping up on the console even when /etc/syslog.conf says it shouldn't, try this.

  • first option is to add the following line into /etc/sysctl.conf
kernel.printk = 3 4 1 7

and run sysctl -p to re-read the configuration

or

  • run
dmesg -n 1
